Day 1
Plymouth, Wisconsin to Fall Creek, WI

Miles today = 240
Total miles = 240

I got off to a slow start due to thunderstorms over the target destination so I finished up some small details like designing the foundation for the original site that I would use as the basis for my web diary and recording a couple more minidiscs of music.
The ride itself was about fighting a heavy crosswind most of the way. There is a cold front coming from the direction I am going and it is causing me to rethink some of my plans and what I am packing.
I was heading to my folks cabin as a short test run instead of heading all the way to St. Paul, Minnesota. The seat of my motorbike is a major pain in the butt no matter what I've done to it. I have made a somewhat radical change by raising my seat height by one inch. It really throws off the way my seat fits to my motorcycle which includes increasing the distance of my reach to the handlebars. Which means I’ll be leaning more on my wrists than I prefer but the trade off is to be able to ride much further. Though I think the

misfit is due more to my size conflicting with the bike ergonomics. I already have added a kit to lower the foot pegs an inch, a “custom” seat, and a kit to move the handlebars closer to the rider by about an inch or so too. I could benefit with the foot pegs being about 6 inches forward so that it is more of a relaxed sitting position. As it is it is a more sport riding position, which certainly comes in, handy but my long legs need to stretch a bit from time to time. My aim is to be able to ride for at least 6 hours a day that should amount to about 300 miles. I would like to be able to ride at least 8 hours if I need to or if there is nothing to see or if I need to make up time/distance.
The ride itself was mostly without a map and proved to be relatively enjoyable as such. Notable sites included Friendship, WI, and Neillsville, WI. Which was along a route that I have never been on which says a lot because there aren’t too many places left in Wisconsin that I have not been.
