How do you tell yourself to get closer to the wild animals to get a picture for posterity?

I was in the Albertsons parking lot in Cut Bank suiting up when a guy walked past, then stopped, backed up, and started to check out my rig. I waited for a comment or question but he didn't say a word and then walked away. Now by all accounts he looked more the biker then I did.
